FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is UROBOT?
UROBOT is a series of AI urinalysis robots by IMPRESSIVE.CARE (Taiwan). Installed in public or home spaces, it completes a urine test during an ordinary restroom visit and delivers an anonymous report to your phone in about 90 seconds.
Everyone uses the same machine — is it hygienic?
The test strips are single-use. The machine stores strips internally, feeds a fresh one for every test, and drops it into a sealed waste compartment afterwards — nothing is shared between users. The whole design is contact-free: you never touch the unit. We also service each machine on a regular schedule for professional cleaning and consumable replacement.
How long does a test take?
It depends on the model: about 30 seconds for UROBOT-R and about 60 seconds for UROBOT-K, with the report reaching your phone within roughly 90 seconds. It finishes inside the time you were already spending in the restroom — no extra waiting.
How do I get my report? Do I need an app or an account?
Neither. When the test finishes, a QR code appears on the screen — scan it with your phone camera and the report opens in your browser. No app to install, no account to create, no phone number or name to hand over. That is what "anonymous" means here in practice: the system never knows who you are.
Who can see my results? Can the venue see them?
Only you can see your own report. The host venue — a public health bureau, an employer, a hotel — cannot see any individual result. They only see aggregate statistics that cannot be traced back to a person, such as total visits and overall distribution of readings. Reports are generated and delivered anonymously and are not tied to your identity.
Does it cost anything to use?
At venues participating in GFUSIP, the Global Free Urine Screening Initiative, screening is free for the public — the cost is carried by the initiative and its partners. That is the whole point of GFUSIP: preventive medicine should be as available as a drinking fountain, requiring neither a reason nor a fee.
What does a test measure?
It varies by model. UROBOT-K covers 19 urine biochemistry markers spanning kidney and urinary tract, liver and gallbladder, and metabolic indicators; UROBOT-R covers 5 rapid screening markers. Some models also measure uroflowmetry (urine flow rate). Email [email protected] for the full marker list.
What should I do if a result looks abnormal?
The report flags any reading outside the reference range and suggests you seek a professional medical assessment. Please remember UROBOT is an auxiliary tool — it does not diagnose and should never be your only basis for a decision. A single reading is strongly affected by hydration, diet, exercise and medication, so a flagged value is not cause for alarm, but it should not be ignored either. Take the report to a clinician and talk it through.
How is this different from a urine test at a hospital?
They serve different purposes. A hospital urinalysis is part of a diagnostic process ordered by a physician. UROBOT does screening — no appointment, no registration, no walking to a restroom holding a sample cup. It happens inside something you were already doing, so that people who need further investigation find out sooner that they should see a doctor. The two are complementary, not substitutes.
Is it suitable for children and women?
Yes, and there are dedicated models. UROBOT-C is a wall-mounted unit designed for families and children (we recommend a parent accompanies younger children). UROBOT-G is a seated model built around women's health needs from post-partum through menopause. The R and K models used in public venues are standing units.
Is UROBOT a smart toilet or a smart urinal?
Both. UROBOT is a product family: R and K are standing smart urinals, C is wall-mounted, G and M are seated smart urine-testing toilets, and D is a health-trend dashboard. Depending on the model, they measure biochemical urine markers and uroflowmetry (urine flow rate) under the same Taiwan TFDA device licence.
Is UROBOT a licensed medical device?
Yes. UROBOT holds a Class I Taiwan medical device licence, 衛部醫器製壹字第010471號, issued by the Taiwan FDA (TFDA) and verifiable in the official TFDA database. It is an auxiliary diagnostic tool; results are for reference by medical professionals.
Is the “robot urinal from Taiwan” real?
Yes — the viral “robot urinal from Taiwan” is UROBOT. It is not just a novelty: it is a TFDA-licensed screening device. You can book a visit through this website to see it in person.
How do UROBOT, GFUSIP and UPEE relate to each other?
Three layers. IMPRESSIVE.CARE is the company — it holds the device licence and handles governance and partnerships. UROBOT is the product line, the machines themselves. GFUSIP is the Global Free Urine Screening Initiative, which we take part in, that puts those machines into public space. UPEE is the service that delivers reports anonymously to your phone. In short: the company builds the machines, the initiative places them, the service returns your results.
Who makes UROBOT?
IMPRESSIVE CARE CO., LTD. (英普瑞斯), a Taiwanese social-innovation company founded in 2019 (Tax ID 82870032), headquartered in Nangang Software Park, Taipei. It was co-founded by master’s and PhD graduates of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). Not affiliated with the DKFZ “UroBot” language model or urobots.io.
What does it cost a venue to host a UROBOT?
We offer two models: leasing and sponsorship. We assess the right units and configuration based on your venue type, foot traffic and health priorities. Describe your site through the contact form and we will come back with a concrete proposal.
Can UROBOT be deployed outside Taiwan?
We are open to discussing it, but the regulatory position comes first: UROBOT currently holds a Taiwan medical device licence and has not obtained local device approval in markets such as Japan or Indonesia. In those markets we work through joint research, pilot sites and partnerships rather than selling it as an approved medical device. Get in touch and we will explain what is possible where you are.
How do I partner with or visit IMPRESSIVE.CARE?
Use the contact form on this site or email [email protected] — we reply within two business days and can arrange a site visit or venue assessment.
